Your post shows here the way the feed shows it: the first lines, then the rest behind “…more”.

About what people see before they tap “…more”. Where LinkedIn cuts exactly depends on the screen.

How it works

A LinkedIn post is plain text: there is no bold or italic in it. What people use instead are letters from another part of Unicode that look bold or italic. They paste into LinkedIn like any other letters and look the same on every screen.

LinkedIn's limit

A postUp to 3,000 characters. Longer than that, LinkedIn suggests writing an article instead. Post and share updates

Rather post it from your AI app?

With HeyReagent connected, Claude or ChatGPT can publish a post on your own LinkedIn when you ask it to: paste the post into the chat and say "post this on my LinkedIn". That is the Connect plan. Connect Claude to LinkedIn, or ChatGPT.

Questions

How do I make text bold on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn has no bold button for posts. Write the post above, select the words, press Bold, then copy it into LinkedIn. The bold letters are special characters that look bold, so they stay bold wherever you paste them.

Can I use italic or underline in a LinkedIn post?

Yes, the same way: select the words and press Italic, Underline or Strike through. Underline and strike through are a small mark after each letter, so they can look a little different from one screen to another.

How many characters can a LinkedIn post have?

LinkedIn says a post can have up to 3,000 characters (its help page “Post and share updates”, read on 24 October 2026). The counter above counts a styled letter as one character.

Where does LinkedIn cut a post with “…more”?

The feed shows the first few lines and hides the rest behind “…more”. LinkedIn does not publish an exact number, and it changes with the screen, so the preview above shows both a computer and a phone. Put the line that makes people want to read on first.

Is bold text bad for accessibility?

It can be. Screen readers may read styled letters one by one, or skip them, and LinkedIn search may not match them to the plain word. Keep styles for a few words that matter, not whole sentences. Copy without styles gives you the plain version.

Is what I write sent anywhere?

No. The formatter runs in your browser. Your draft is kept in this browser only, so it is still here if you close the tab, and Clear removes it.
