How to comment on someone's LinkedIn posts from your AI app

Ask your AI app for the latest posts of the person you have in mind, pick one, and tell it what to say. It reads their posts first and changes nothing. The comment goes out only on the post you name, with the words you agree on.

What has this person posted lately?

Start with the person. Give your AI app the link of their LinkedIn profile, or the name of someone it already found for you, and ask for their posts. It lists them newest first, 10 unless you ask for more. It only reads: nothing changes on your account or theirs.

  • "What has this person posted on LinkedIn lately? Here is their profile link."
  • "Show me the last five posts from the first person on yesterday's list."

Each post comes with its text, its date, and how many reactions and comments it has. A company page works the same way: ask for the posts of the company instead.

Can I read what others already said under it?

Yes. Ask for the comments on a post before you write your own. Your AI app lists them, newest first, with who wrote each one. This also only reads.

  • "What are people saying under her second post?"
  • "Read me the comments on that post, so mine does not repeat them."

How do I leave the comment?

Point at one post and say what you want to write, or ask your AI app for a draft and change it until it sounds like you. When you say post it, the comment goes out on that one post, now, from your own account.

  • "Draft a short comment on her latest post that adds one thing from our own work. Show it to me first."
  • "Post that comment, as written."

A comment can be up to 1250 characters. The answer says whether it went out, which of your accounts it ran on, and how many comments that account has left today.

Can I answer a comment, or comment as my company?

Yes to both. To answer one comment instead of the post, name the comment from the list above and your AI app replies under it. To write as a company page you run, say so and give the page.

  • "Reply to the first comment under that post and thank them for the question."
  • "Comment on this post as our company page, not as me."

If you have more than one LinkedIn account connected, say which one to use. Without that, the first live account is used.

How many comments can I post in a day?

Every kind of action here has a daily limit for each LinkedIn account. For comments on posts it is 40 a day. Ask how much of today's limits you have used at any time.

  • "How many comments have I posted today, and what is the limit?"
  • get_usageRead how many of each LinkedIn action your account used today, and each daily limit.

The full list of limits is on the actions page. The same two steps, list the posts and then comment, are also written out in the recipes.

Where to set it up

You ask in the AI app you already use. Connect it once, then ask in plain words as above. The setup for each app is on its own page: Claude, ChatGPT, Meta Muse, n8n, or the plain API.

Questions

Does reading someone's posts change anything?

Listing a person's posts and reading the comments under them only reads. Nothing is posted, liked or sent until you ask for a comment on one post.

Can my AI app write the comment for me?

It can draft one from the post's text and what you tell it. Ask to see the draft first, change what does not sound like you, then say post it.

Can I comment on many people's posts at once?

You can ask for that in one sentence, and your AI app comments on each post in turn, one action for each. Each one counts toward the daily limit of 40 comments.

Can LinkedIn restrict my account for using it?

LinkedIn's User Agreement does not allow automated activity, and LinkedIn can limit or restrict an account that it decides is automated. Every kind of action here has a daily limit for each account to lower that risk. The limits do not remove it.
