LinkedIn MCP server on Reddit: what to check first

People ask Reddit how to get LinkedIn into Claude, and the answers are a mix of scraping tools, servers someone has just built, and warnings. We read two of the threads, with replies, on 28 October 2026. This page says what was asked, what came back, and five things to check before you connect any LinkedIn MCP server, ours included.

What people ask

In r/ClaudeAI on 26 May 2026, someone asked for the current best way to get LinkedIn data into Claude: likes, engagement, company page followers, connections, ideally ads too. Paraphrasing the replies: one suggested Apify, a scraping service, beside a website scraper; one said you will have to use a third-party connector and that a search for “linkedin mcp server” turns up a few, but they could not say how good any is; and they added to be careful automating anything on your own account, because bans come quickly. A third said LinkedIn is very strict about scraping.

That is the whole answer the thread had. There was no recommendation anyone vouched for, which is why the search keeps being typed.

What gets announced

In r/mcp on 28 September 2026, a hosted LinkedIn MCP server was announced for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and n8n, with 33 tools by the maker's own list and a free trial, according to the post. The reply that stood out was a question to the maker: whether response shapes are frozen for each tool, or checked live, since a wrapper around LinkedIn breaks quietly when a field changes shape and keeps returning partial data. Other posts in the same search are makers announcing servers that scrape profiles and search jobs, or read data with no login.

We name none of these as better or worse. We have not run them, and a maker's post is where a tool starts, not where it is judged.

Five things to check before you connect one

  1. Does it read or does it act? A server that only reads is a different risk from one that sends invitations and messages in your name. Know which one you are installing.
  2. Where does your LinkedIn session live? On your machine, in a hosted service, or nowhere? Ask what it holds and how you take it away.
  3. Is there a daily limit, and can you raise it? A limit that you cannot switch off protects you from your own prompt.
  4. What happens when LinkedIn changes? The question from the thread. Look for a maker who says how a changed field is caught.
  5. Who made it, and is it still maintained? Check the last change on the code, or the date of the last release. A server nobody has touched for a year is a risk.

LinkedIn has not published a server of its own, and what it offers developers is limited. Is there an MCP server from LinkedIn? The answer, with what exists.

Where HeyReagent fits

HeyReagent is a hosted server, and one of the kinds above. One address connects your own LinkedIn to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, n8n or a plain API, with 97 actions and a daily limit on each kind. The free plan covers the address. It is not the largest by tool count and we do not claim it is; its reason to exist is the agent above it, which the paid plan adds.

Questions

What is the best LinkedIn MCP server, according to Reddit?

Reddit has no single answer. The threads we read are mostly people announcing a server they built, and a few asking which to use and getting scraping tools and “a third-party connector” in reply. The kinds that come up: one that runs on your own machine, one that is hosted, and one that reads public data with no login. They are different tools for different jobs.

Is there an MCP server from LinkedIn itself?

LinkedIn has not published one. The servers on Reddit are made by others, and a post by the maker is an announcement, not a review. See the longer answer on the page for that question.

Is it safe to connect my own LinkedIn account to an MCP server?

It depends on what the server does with it. A server that only reads public data is one thing; one that sends messages and invitations from your account is another. LinkedIn’s rules on automated activity apply to both, and a commenter in the r/ClaudeAI thread we read warned that bans come quickly when automation touches your own account. HeyReagent gives every kind of action a daily limit that cannot be switched off.

Can Claude or ChatGPT send LinkedIn messages through an MCP server?

Only through a server that has that action. HeyReagent has 97 actions behind one address, including search, profile reads, invitations and messages, and the free plan covers the address. Messages and invitations still go from your own LinkedIn, within the daily limits.
