HeyReagent / How to post a LinkedIn job and read applicants from your AI app
How to post a LinkedIn job and read applicants from your AI app
Tell your AI app what job you are hiring for, and it writes a LinkedIn job posting as a draft. Nobody sees the draft. It goes live only when you ask it to publish, and after that you can ask who applied, read each person's answers and get their resume.

Can my AI app write a LinkedIn job posting for me?
Yes. Say the job title, the company, where the work is and whether it is on site, hybrid or remote, and give a few lines about the role. Your AI app writes the description and saves the posting as a draft on your LinkedIn account.
- "Write a LinkedIn job posting for a full time sales manager at my company, hybrid, in Berlin."
- "Add two screening questions: how many years in B2B sales, and can they start within a month."
lookup_search_idsFind LinkedIn's id for a place, company, school, industry, job title and the like, by name.create_job_postingCreate a job posting as a draft.
LinkedIn wants its own id for the place, so your AI app looks it up from the name you gave first. A draft is not public. You can read it back and ask for changes as often as you like before anyone sees it.
- "Show me the draft."
- "Make the description shorter and say the team is five people."

How do I publish the job?
Say so, and your AI app publishes the draft. Ask for a free posting. A promoted posting is paid to LinkedIn, so ask for one only if you mean to pay for it, and say the most you want to spend.
- "Publish the sales manager job as a free posting."
publish_job_postingPublish a job posting draft, free or promoted.
Sometimes LinkedIn wants to check that you may post for that company and sends you a code by email first. Then the posting waits. Give your AI app the code and it finishes publishing.
- "LinkedIn sent me the code 123456 for the job posting."
solve_job_posting_checkpointFinish publishing a job posting with the code LinkedIn sent.
Who applied to my job?
Ask for the applicants. Your AI app lists them with their name, headline and place, and can keep only the ones that match words you give. This only reads.
- "Who has applied to the sales manager job?"
- "Which applicants mention SaaS?"
list_job_applicantsList who applied to one of your job postings.
For anyone you want to look at closely, ask for their answers to the screening questions, or for their resume as a file.
- "What did the second applicant answer to the screening questions?"
- "Get me that person's resume."
get_job_applicantRead one applicant, with their answers to the screening questions.get_job_applicant_resumeDownload one applicant's resume.
How do I close the job when I have hired?
Say the role is filled, and your AI app closes the posting. Closing is for good: a closed posting does not open again, so ask only when you are done.
- "Close the sales manager job."
close_job_postingClose one of your job postings for good.
Every kind of action here has a daily limit for each LinkedIn account. Job postings created, edited, published or closed share one limit of 20 a day. Ask how much you have used today at any time. The full list is on the actions page.
get_usageRead how many of each LinkedIn action your account used today, and each daily limit.
Where to set it up
You ask in the AI app you already use. Connect it once, then ask in plain words as above. The setup for each app is on its own page: Claude, ChatGPT, Meta Muse, n8n, or the plain API.
Questions
Does anyone see the job before I publish it?
No. Writing the posting saves it as a draft on your account. It is public only after you ask your AI app to publish it, and you can read and change the draft as often as you like before then.
Does posting a job this way cost anything?
A free posting costs nothing on LinkedIn. A promoted posting is paid to LinkedIn, with a budget you set. What your own plan here costs is on the pricing section of the home page.
Can I message someone who applied?
Yes, once you know who you want to talk to. Ask your AI app to read their profile first, then to write to them. It sends a message only when you ask for it, and each message counts toward a daily limit for your account.
Can LinkedIn restrict my account for using it?
LinkedIn's User Agreement does not allow automated activity, and LinkedIn can limit or restrict an account that it decides is automated. Every kind of action here has a daily limit for each account to lower that risk. The limits do not remove it.
