HeyReagent / How to work your LinkedIn Recruiter pipeline from your AI app

How to work your LinkedIn Recruiter pipeline from your AI app

If you have a Recruiter seat on your LinkedIn account, you can ask your AI app to search for candidates, put the right ones into a hiring project and move them from one stage to the next. It can also turn down an applicant with a reason, and send them a note when you want one sent.

What do I need first?

A Recruiter seat on your own LinkedIn account, and that account connected here. Everything below runs on your seat and your hiring projects. Your AI app first lists the projects you have, so you can name one by its title.

  • "List my Recruiter hiring projects."
  • "Tell me about the backend engineer project: which job it is for and how many people applied."

Reading your projects only reads. Nothing changes on LinkedIn until you ask for a change.

How do I find candidates in Recruiter from my AI app?

Say who you are looking for in plain words: the role, the skills, the place. Your AI app looks up LinkedIn's own ids for the place and the other filters, then runs the search on your seat. You can also ask it to run one of the searches you already saved in Recruiter.

  • "Find backend engineers in Amsterdam who know Go."
  • "Run my saved search for senior designers again and show me only the new results."

Your AI app keeps each person's id from the results, so ask it to add someone from the results it just showed you rather than pasting a link.

How do I add a candidate to a hiring project?

Point at a person in the results and name the project. Your AI app puts them into its pipeline, as someone you found or as someone who applied. A new candidate starts as not contacted unless you say otherwise.

  • "Add the second and fourth people to the backend engineer project."
  • "Add that applicant to the project too."

How do I move someone to the next stage?

When you have written to someone, or they wrote back, say so. Your AI app moves them to contacted or to replied in the project, so the pipeline in Recruiter shows where each person is.

  • "I wrote to Anna yesterday. Mark her as contacted in the backend engineer project."
  • "Jonas replied. Move him to replied."

To write to a candidate from your AI app, ask it to start a conversation through Recruiter. It writes to them only when you ask it to, and an InMail counts toward its own daily limit.

  • start_conversationStart a new conversation: an InMail, a message through Sales Navigator or Recruiter, a group, a company page, a job applicant.

Can I reject an applicant and tell them why?

Yes. Name the applicant and the reason: they do not meet the basic qualifications, they are not in the place you hire in, you have more qualified candidates, they withdrew, or no reason given. You choose whether they hear about it.

  • "Reject Marc for the backend engineer project. We have more qualified candidates. Do not send him anything."
  • "Reject Lena because she is not in the desired location, and send her a short, kind note tomorrow morning."

If you ask for a note, your AI app writes it from what you said and sends it at the time you name, or now. Without a note the applicant is rejected in the project and is not told.

How many can I do in a day?

Every kind of action here has a daily limit for each LinkedIn account. Candidates added, moved or rejected share one limit of 100 a day with leads saved in Sales Navigator. Rows of Recruiter search results count toward a daily limit of their own. Ask how much you have used today at any time. The full list is on the actions page.

  • "How much of today's limits have I used?"
  • get_usageRead how many of each LinkedIn action your account used today, and each daily limit.

Where to set it up

You ask in the AI app you already use. Connect it once, then ask in plain words as above. The setup for each app is on its own page: Claude, ChatGPT, Meta Muse, n8n, or the plain API. To post a job and read who applied to it, see posting a LinkedIn job from your AI app.

Questions

Do I need a Recruiter seat for this?

Yes. The candidate search, the hiring projects and the pipeline stages all run on a Recruiter seat on your own LinkedIn account. Without one, you can still post a job and read who applied to it.

Does a rejected applicant always get a message?

No. They get a note only if you ask for one. You can also say when it goes out, for example the next morning, instead of right away.

Will my AI app move candidates by itself?

It moves or rejects someone when you ask it to. Reading your projects and searching only read, and change nothing in Recruiter.

Can LinkedIn restrict my account for using it?

LinkedIn's User Agreement does not allow automated activity, and LinkedIn can limit or restrict an account that it decides is automated. Every kind of action here has a daily limit for each account to lower that risk. The limits do not remove it.
